Character Recognition Awards
The Character Recognition Awards is an annual event celebrating the statewide achievements of schools and organizations building character strengths and ethical leadership skills in young people. Attendees include leaders from education, business, government and non-profit sectors as well as legislators, teachers and students. The event includes a luncheon and program celebrating the honorees. Awards presented include the Minnesota Schools/Districts of Character, Minnesota Promising Practices AwardsMinnesota Ethical Leadership Awards, and Champion of Character Award.

Thompson serves as president of bolder options a comprehensive mentoring program serving at-risk youth in the Twin Cities and Rochester. He is often remembered as the leading rusher for the University of Minnesota Gophers and a first-round draft pick for the Green Bay Packers. You can hear Thompson on KFAN radio as one of the Gopher game day announcers.
